Job purpose

Emtiro Health’s Director of Clinical Services is responsible for direction, planning, implementation, monitoring, coordinating, and evaluation of the organization’s clinical programs.

Duties and responsibilities

The Director will ensure the elements of the program are implemented in a standardized manner to ensure medical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, cultural, relational, contextual, and environmental aspects of the patient’s total care are addressed by the clinical teams.  The Director shall:

  • Provide effective leadership in the planning and achievement of care management and other clinical goals and objectives to ensure program initiatives are implemented successfully across Emtiro Health.

  • Provide effective leadership and direction to Emtiro’s employees and partners through the implementation of appropriate organizational protocols and procedures. This requires coordination of departmental, interdepartmental, and organizational activities, and the exercise of strong problem solving, and communication skills.

  • Provide leadership in financial management for the clinical program, its employees and  resources.

  • Be responsible for the development and monitoring of the clinical services department strategic plan in alignment with and in support of Emtiro Health’s company-wide strategic plan.   

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of various clinical programs/systems, work flows, and integration efforts that aligns with, market, contractual, regulatory and quality requirements.  

  • Act as the content subject matter expert for key clinical projects/ initiatives, including the development of detailed work plans, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring/summarizing project progress.

  • Provide leadership to clinical staff, as directed by V.P. of Clinical Operations.

  • Collaborate with Director of Quality Improvement, to participate in continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Provide effective leadership in the building of collaborative relationships and promotion of organizational initiatives among many external stakeholders and partners such as Advanced Medical Homes, Hospitals, Behavioral Health Facilities, Managed Care Organizations, Health Systems; as well as community agencies such as Local Health Departments, Departments of Social Services, and other community-based organizations.

  • Provide effective leadership in human resource management with respect to recruiting, selecting, training, evaluation, compensation, staff development, and communications for the workforce located at multiple sites.

  • Stay current with best practices and national guidelines of care management, utilization management, and other industry standard principles.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Pharmacy with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a clinical/healthcare program is required.

  • Certification in Case Management (CCM) or related certification required.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully working with executives, physicians, and other community leaders in both academic and community-based practice/hospital settings.

  • Prior experience working with state Medicaid Programs, Medicare, health insurance companies, and local governmental agencies preferred. 

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proficiency in computer and other technology platforms such as documentation systems, Electronic Health Records, and Microsoft Applications

Working conditions

This position will work in an office setting during normal office hours with occasional evening or weekend work.  Local travel to practices, hospitals, etc. will often be expected.  Out of state travel to conferences may occur occasionally.

Physical requirements

This position will require lifting of up to 50 lbs. with frequent standing, bending and/or sitting.  Long distance walking should be expected when visiting hospitals or larger practices/clinics.

Direct reports

The Director of Clinical Services will directly manage the care management and other clinical staff. The Director of Clinical Services will determine the number and positions required in conjunction with the Vice President of Clinical Operations.
